Pelvic Health Vs Pelvic Floor Strength
The pelvis is a major functional zone of the body, and issues with the pelvis can sometimes expand beyond just the often discussed pelvic floor. It provides the bony framework for fascia and muscles that work throughout the body to provide stability, strength, mobility, continence, sexual health and postural support.
What causes Pelvic Health Problems?
Pelvic health is a common ailment for both Men and Women, and can be impacted by stress and mental health, biomechanical changes - eg pregnancy, childbirth, as a result of trauma or injury, overuse/strain from work or exercise, or due to conditions such as endometriosis.
What are symptoms of Pelvic Dysfunction?
Pelvic dysfunction may present with a variety of symptoms, including:
Pain - this can appear in a range of areas in the body including the back, hips, SIJ, pelvis or genitals.
Incontinence - this can vary from mildly bothersome, to having a debilitating effect on your quality of life.
Prolapse - bulging or dropped internal organs.
