Move better, feel better.

“Osteo? That’s the bones isn’t it?”

Yes, osteo does mean bone - and we know our bones but Osteopathy is much more than bones alone!

Osteopaths consider all the component parts of the body - bones, joints, muscles, the nervous system, ligaments, tendons, fascia, circulation - and how the parts function together as a whole.

Treatment is aimed at promoting the harmonious function of the body systems to promote overall health, improved mobility and decreased pain.

Osteopaths are government regulated primary healthcare providers. Osteopathy is covered by all private health insurers, and eligible patients may use Medicare care plans

You do not need a referral to see an osteopath, although it is common for other health professionals to refer and recommend osteopathic management for many musculoskeletal complaints.

“ It is the object of the physician to find health, anyone can find disease”
— A. T. Still, founder of osteopathy and pioneer of holistic healthcare

Reasons people come to see us

Osteopaths have a very detailed knowledge of human anatomy and it may surprise you to learn that we treat all areas of the body, from the feet to the head.

Patients often present with aches and pains, tightness, stiff joints, inflammation, headaches, jaw pain, bursitis, nerve pain, sprains, muscle tears, disc issues just to mention a few!

We offer treatment to help relieve discomfort and pain, to encourage easier movement, and to get you feeling better again.

Do you feel the effects of stress in your body?

Stress causes imbalance in the nervous system, which becomes evident in the body- increasing the sensation of aches and pains, the frequency of headaches, may cause us to clench and grind the teeth, altered metabolism and digestive problems, as well as poor sleep. We offer treatments designed to help alleviate the effects of stress on the body, and help find ways of managing ongoing stress.

Dr Mell has completed extensive training in therapeutic meditation and mindfulness, breathwork and relaxation techniques and is able to offer this as part of your treatment.
